Dear Friends,
United Way is deeply saddened by the tragic mass shootings in Lewiston, which has resulted in the loss of many lives and injuries to many others. Our thoughts are with the victims and their families during this tragedy. These are incredibly stressful times - we have provided the following resources to support our community:
-
211 Maine – call 211 or text your zip code to 898-21; trained call center operators will connect people to local services they need
-
The Maine Crisis Line – call 988
-
Maine Intentional Peer Support Warm Line – call 1-866-771-9276 for free support services to help professionals manage the stress of responding to disasters
When disaster happens, either man-made or natural, United Way always steps up. We offer resources and support to communities, whether in response, during recovery, or while reimagining and rebuilding neighborhoods. United Way's mission is building strong, resilient, and equitable communities.
United Way of Androscoggin County is quickly working to respond and put resources to work toward the healing and recovery process. As such, we are asking that you consider a gift to the United Way Community Fund to help us address current and emerging needs associated with this awful event. 100% of every dollar donated will support our community partners, including 211 Maine and others providing mental health services, crisis support, and additional critical needs. We must support each other and care for one another in this time of great tragedy in Lewiston/Auburn and our state.
Thank you,
Joleen Bedard
