United Way of Androscoggin County Announces Phase 40 Grant Money Available for Emergency Food and Shelter for Androscoggin and Oxford Counties

Lewiston, Maine (November 22, 2022) - United Way of Androscoggin County has announced that it has been selected by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to administer funds for Phase 40 of the Emergency Food and Shelter Program (EFSP) for FY 2022.  Agencies may use funds to provide food, utility assistance, mass shelter, other shelter, served meals, supplies and equipment, and rent or mortgage assistance.

The $40,761 in funding for Androscoggin County and $22,230 in funding for Oxford County will be administered by a local board comprised of area non-profit leaders, local municipalities and members of the faith community.  The deadline to submit applications for the grant is: December 30, 2022 at 4:00pm. 

Under the terms of the grant, local organizations are eligible to apply if they meet the following criteria:  must be private voluntary nonprofit organizations or units of government; have an accounting system; practice non-discrimination; have demonstrated the capability to deliver emergency food and/or shelter; have a voluntary board of directors if a private voluntary organization.
