Happy New Year from United Way!

My Name is Joleen Bedard and I am proud to lead United Way of Androscoggin County. My team and I are working together to reach out to community members like you who have supported us in recent years. We are excited and filled with hope for 2020 – but certainly wanted to make sure that you know how your generosity has had a positive impact in our community.

In 2019, United Way of Androscoggin County expanded its territory to serve agencies, individuals, and families in Oxford County – this was a huge undertaking and we are proud to do so! Last year alone we served over 30,000 children and families:

  • Over 1,000 children received backpacks and school supplies to start the school year in September.
  • 550 home-bound older adults and adults with disabilities received 74,000 meals to help them remain independently in their own homes.
  • 1,998 bed nights were provided to 72 youth in our community that needed safe shelter.
  • 247 low-wage adults received assistance with their Federal and State tax returns and received almost $100,000 in Federal Earned Income Tax Credit!

All of this was possible because of you.

The work we are doing to make life better for children and families in Androscoggin and Oxford Counties simply would not happen were it not for your kind support. I cannot thank you enough for partnering with us to create a caring community!

As we reflect on the year that has passed and look toward the future, I wanted to share with you that it is not too late to support United Way in 2020. Your gift at any level will help us to continue our critical work. Make a secure online gift here. We are grateful for your support and we wish you the best in 2020. Happy New Year!

With gratitude,

Joleen Bedard
