The TOPS (The Opportunity to Shine) Camp Fair will be held on Monday, February 12 from 5-7 p.m. at the Multi-Purpose Center (145 Birch St.). There will be representatives from 40 camps offering information on their summer programs. All Lewiston residents are invited to attend this free event and receive the 2007 TOPS camp directory. Last year United Way of Androscoggin County, in conjunction with the Libra Foundation, awarded scholarships to over 1000 children. MORE INFO

It may be cold outside, but the United Way office is bustling with activity. Here are just a few of the things we are working on: 

• Get your $10 reduced price tickets to the Friday, Feb. 2 MAINEiacs game and meet us there for a night of fun. Bring the attached flyer to the MAINEiacs box office to secure your tickets today! After the game we’ll celebrate Full Moon Madness at Margaritas restaurant. Hope to see you there!

• This year United Way of Androscoggin County received $59,785 from the National Board of the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to supplement emergency food and shelter programs in Androscoggin County. This award is roughly $5,500 more than last year and will be allocated by a board of community volunteers appointed by FEMA. There were 12 local agencies that applied for funding this year. • Please join us in congratulating United Way of Androscoggin County’s Board Chair, Mark Anthoine of Healey & Associates who is being awarded the Community Service Leadership Award. Mark’s dedication to United Way will be highlighted during his recognition at the Chamber’s Annual Meeting on February 1.
