Hello From United Way -
At United Way of Androscoggin County we are celebrating our 75th anniversary of caring for our community this year and staying busy with many initiatives. Here is a short list of our recent activities and accomplishments:
2-1-1 Celebrates One Year Anniversary
July 7, 2007 marked the one year anniversary for statewide access to 2-1-1 Maine, the comprehensive link to Maine’s health and human services.
2-1-1 is quick, free and easy to use. We all know to dial 9-1-1 for medical and
health emergencies and 4-1-1 for directory assistance. And now, finding health and human service information and resources is as quick and easy as dialing 2-1-1 or visiting www.211maine.org. Trained specialists answer calls to 2-1-1 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Since its inception, Androscoggin County residents have placed over 2,500 calls to 2-1-1 Maine to get and give help.
2-1-1 Maine is a join initiative between United Way of Androscoggin County, United Ways of Maine, Ingraham and the State of Maine. [READ MORE]
Make Your Caring Count on Sept. 7 for the Day of Caring
Friday, September 7, United Way of Androscoggin County will host the 2007 Day of Caring, which matches employees from participating companies with non-profit agencies for a day of volunteer work. Last year over 160 people from 18 companies volunteered during the Day of Caring. To get involved and make your caring count, contact Adam Caron at the United Way.
Setting the Pace for the 2007 Campaign
Many organizations are demonstrating their commitment to our community by holding Pacesetter Campaigns – running their United Way campaign and committing to their corporate contributions prior to the September 7 Campaign Kickoff. Pacesetters help set the tone for the entire campaign and will be recognized for their efforts during the Campaign Kickoff event September 7. If your organization would like to participate as a Pacesetter Campaign please contact Jennifer Thomas Richard at the United Way. [READ MORE]
