Hello from United Way -

It is that time of year again... our United Way office has nearly doubled in size with the addition of four great loaned executives, who are working hard alongside our staff and committed volunteers on the annual community fundraising campaign. There are many exciting happenings at United Way of Androscoggin County, including a successful Day of Caring, new campaign incentives for donors and a back to school project to assist families in our community.

United Way Sets Target at $1.9M During Kickoff
On Sept. 7 United Way of Androscoggin County kicked off the 2007 campaign with over one hundred and fifty community members during a breakfast event in Lewiston. Campaign Chairperson Dick Albert of Parent Insurance announced that this year’s fundraising goal of $1.9M will support the needs of local programs meeting our community’s pressing needs. "There is an ongoing need for the broad spectrum of human services funded by United Way and we are seeking your help,” said Albert. Ten percent of the $1.9M goal has been attainted thanks to the support of Pacesetter Campaigns

Doug Rafferty of WGME 13 served as the master of ceremonies for the event, at which volunteers, board members, executives and local agency representatives watched the annual campaign video and listened to Johanna Lloyd of Mechanics Savings Bank as she discussed how her family benefits from United Way funded programs. Johanna and her husband Ed of Poland use the childcare services offered at the Auburn-Lewiston YMCA for their son Mark, who was hydrocephalic at birth. “Anyone can have their life touched by United Way,” remarked Lloyd. “You never know what life will bring you.” READ MORE
